Globe writers honored in AP competition - The Boston Globe (Boston, MA)

Members of The Boston Globe staff took several first-place prizesin this year's New England AP News Executives Association writingcompetition.

The judges gave the Globe newsroom team top honors in thegeneral-writing category for its series of articles that related howdoctors at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the nation's mostrespected hospitals, made mistakes that cost lives, including that ofthe Globe's longtime personal health columnist, Betsy Lehman.

In the sports competition, the Globe's special-sectionretrospective on the Boston Garden, 'Unforgettable,' was awarded afirst-place medal and Dan Shaughnessy was voted top columnist.
